Smoked Fish Salad Ingredients

Cooking smoked fish salad:

Step 1: Boil the vegetables and the egg.


And the first thing you need to start with is boiling vegetables and eggs. For salads, carrots and potatoes are best boiled in a peel, so they retain more nutrients. So, thoroughly rinse them under running water, but do not remove the peel.
For potatoes. Pour clean water into the pot and put on a stove on a strong fire. After the water boils, lay the potatoes, reduce the heat to medium and cook 10 - 15 minutes. Then add salt to taste and cook until approximately ready 15 - 20 minutes.
For carrots. Pour a little clean water into the pan so that it visually covers the carrots by about 2 cm. Put on a stove over high heat, bring to a boil, salt and lay the carrots. We are waiting for the water to boil again (you can speed up this process by simply closing the pan with a lid), reduce the heat to a minimum and cook until approximately ready 20 - 25 minutes, it is necessary to stir the carrots periodically so that it does not burn.

For the eggs. We lay the egg in a small pan, fill it with cold water and put on a stove on a strong fire. As soon as the water boils, we reduce the heat and cook the egg for about 7 - 10 minutes. Then we pour hot water out of the pan, pour cold water and leave the egg to cool.

Step 2: Cut the vegetables.


Peel boiled potatoes and carrots, put them on a cutting board and cut them into cubes, slices or as you like.

Shredded vegetables are placed in a deep bowl.

Peel the egg and cut it into small cubes or pieces of arbitrary shape.

Step 3: Cut the fish.


If the fish has skin, it must be cut off, and the meat itself chopped into a small cube or pieces of arbitrary shape.

Step 4: Cut the olives.


Open a jar of olives, drain the juice and cut on a cutting board into 2 - 4 parts. Although they can be added whole to the salad, it depends on your taste, but be sure that they do not have seeds.

Step 5: Refill the salad.


So, we put eggs, fish, peas and olives in a bowl with vegetables.

Mix everything thoroughly.

Season with mayonnaise and add salt to taste.

Step 6: Serve the smoked fish salad.


Smoked fish salad is served immediately after dressing, along with slices of fresh flavored bread. And for a more festive serving, the dish can be decorated with sprigs of fresh herbs, for example, parsley or dill, as well as grated boiled egg.

Recipe Tips:

- The readiness of vegetables during cooking is checked with a fork or knife. If potatoes or carrots are easily pierced, then they are boiled. If not, continue cooking for another 5 minutes, and then check readiness again.

- It is better to make homemade mayonnaise because it is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

- Salad can be supplemented with red onions or gherkins.
