Stuffed onions


Stuffed Onion Ingredients

  1. Onion 4-5 pcs
  2. Minced meat 300 g
  3. Breadcrumbs 3 tbsp. spoons
  4. Vegetable oil 3 tbsp. + tablespoons
  5. Ground black pepper to taste
  6. Salt to taste

Cooking Stuffed Onions:

Step 1: Prepare the onion.


It is better to choose a large size onion for stuffing, but onion or red is up to you. So, we turn on a strong fire on the stove, pour water into the pan, put on the burner and bring the liquid to a boil. Then add salt.
Selected onions, peel them, rinse under running water and lower them in boiling water. We cook the onions for 10 - 15 minutes, then we take out a slotted spoon, put it in a plate and wait until it cools down enough to work with it further.

Step 2: Cook the minced meat.


From the cooled onion, cut off the upper and lower parts, cut out the middle, so that there is enough space for stuffing (you can leave 2-3 onion rings). Grind the cut part of the onion into small pieces of arbitrary shape.

Pour vegetable oil into a pan, put on a stove and turn on medium heat. When it warms up a little, put the chopped onion and fry it until soft and beautiful golden color, periodically stirring with a kitchen spatula.

Then add minced meat, black pepper, salt and reduce heat to a minimum. Mix everything thoroughly until smooth and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

Step 3: Stuff the onions.


Remove the pan from the stove, let cool slightly and add the breadcrumbs. Mix everything again until smooth and you can start stuffing.
Using a teaspoon, carefully lay the minced meat in the onion. Lubricate the baking dish with vegetable oil, and then lay the onions.

Step 4: Bake the onion.


Bake onions in a preheated oven until 180 degrees during 25 minutes until ready.

Step 5: Serve the stuffed onions.


Stuffed onions are served hot as a snack or main course. If it’s a snack, then the dish can be decorated with lemon slices or fresh herbs, and for the main one it can be combined with any side dish that you like best, for example, fried potatoes or boiled rice. Enjoy delicious and wholesome food!

Recipe Tips:

- It is best to cook in olive oil.

- You can add not only onions to minced meat, but also garlic, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes and even boiled rice.

- The dish will turn out even tastier if, along with black pepper, add fragrant spices, for example, hops - suneli or curry.
