Cod cutlets


Ingredients for making cod cutlets

Cooking cod cutlets:

Step 1: Prepare the cod.


Thaw the cod first. An ideal option would be if you shift the fish from the freezer to the refrigerator from the evening of the previous day. But you can just as well leave it for a couple of hours at room temperature.
Clean the thawed fish as usual, first cleaning the scales with a knife and rinsing under cool running water. Then remove the insides by making a neat cut in the abdomen. Cut the fins and separate the fillet from the bones. Carefully check the resulting fish meat for seeds, for this, gently press on it with your fingertips. Remove the found bones with tweezers or with your hands. After that, rinse the fish again and dry it with paper towels, and then pass through the meat grinder.

Step 2: Prepare the onion.


Peel the onion from the husk and rinse with cool water, cut off all the excess. Chop a clean onion with a meat grinder or mince.

Step 3: Prepare the greens.


Rinse greens properly in warm water and pat dry. Cut thick stems, we don’t need them, you can throw them away. But chop the leaves themselves very finely.

Step 4: Cooking the minced meat.

Combine minced fish and onion, add greens, an egg, and then salt and pepper to taste. Mix all the ingredients properly and crumble slices of white bread to them, just breaking them with your hands. Mix everything again.
Now, from the obtained minced fish, mold the patties, as usual, forming them in the palms of your hands.

Step 5: Fry the cod cutlets.


In a pan, heat a small amount of vegetable oil and pour the flour into a separate flat plate or directly on the countertop. Roll each cutlet in flour and send them fried in a hot skillet with butter. Fry over medium heat until golden brown on one side 5-7 minutesthen turn over and continue cooking yet 3-5 minutes. That's all, your healthy and tasty cod cutlets are ready!

Step 6: Serve the cod cutlets.


Serve cod cutlets in the heat of the heat, with a side dish, or without. Use fresh or steamed vegetables as a side dish. Also, these cutlets can be seasoned with lecho or sour cream.

Recipe Tips:

- In some recipes, milk, sour cream, mashed potatoes and even mayonnaise are also added to minced fish.

- You can also add garlic and a pod of red hot pepper to the minced meat.

- Instead of flour, cutlets can be rolled in breadcrumbs.
